Guinness Record Book Collecting

As sister publications to the Sterling U.S. editions, the mass-market paperback editions of the Guinness Book of World Records contain exactly the same information but at a "popular price". The first Bantam edition, published in October 1963 was priced at 95 cents and states, "Here is the first inexpensive paperback edition of the world-famous record book". According to Norris McWhirter, the mastermind behind the success of the Bantam editions was Esther Margolis, who was at Bantam for 17 years and became its first senior vice-president for marketing, publicity and communications world-wide.
